Jonah Boyarin, Ma.Ed.

I'm a trainer, consultant, writer, and speaker. I support institutions to overturn antisemitism and to include Jewish culture. I help Jewish institutions join the fight for racial and economic justice.

After serving for 3.5 years as the Jewish Communities Liaison for the NYC Commission on Human Rights, I am now undertaking a PhD in Religion at Columbia University.

My Story

I've been a formal educator for 15 years, starting out teaching math in Oakland public schools. (Don't worry, I won't teach you math unless you want me to.) With Roni Ben-David, I cofounded the first Diversity and Equity Program at a Jewish day school in the country, at JCHS of the Bay.

I moved back home to New York City and became the Jewish Communities Liaison for the NYC Commission on Human Rights. In that capacity, I spearheaded the City's community-solidarity and education-based approach to fostering connection and allyship between Jewish and non-Jewish neighboring communities. coached Jewish communal leaders on how to show up for racial justice during the George Floyd protests. At the same time, I partnered with non-Jewish community organizations to stage trainings and demonstrate grassroots support when antisemitic incidents occurred. In 2022, I authored the City's first official training on antisemitism. The training was offered as a model to the nation in President Joe Biden's U.S. National Strategy to Counter Antisemitism. And I shared my insights on numerous panels about solidarity-based responses to fighting hate-based discrimination violence, alongside community leaders and city, state, and federal elected officials including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

Now, as an independent consultant, I bring my insight and experience to help thousands of people across the country adopt a community-solidarity approach to tackling antisemitism: from college campuses to major hospital systems to grassroots non-profits and beyond.

This is my calling: I build solidarity between Jews and non-Jews, so that we can resist antisemitism and all forms of racial and economic injustice. I'm here to do that with you.
